South Lane County Fire & Rescue is seeking candidates for one immediate opening and to create a list for potential future openings. The District will be filling positions based on District Civil Service Commission rules.
SLCFR is situated in the Southern part of the Willamette Valley. The Fire District operates four fire stations which encompasses the Cities of Cottage Grove and Creswell, serving approximately 33,000 residents within 130 square miles. The Fire District also provides ALS transporting medic service to an area of 800 square miles.
General Positions Summary:
Firefighter/Paramedics - perform emergency medical procedures along with various fire suppression, prevention, and apparatus operation techniques and activities. District Firefighter/Paramedics routinely work a 48/96-hour shift rotation including assignment to a transporting ALS Medic unit. This position maintains all District equipment and apparatus through regular inspection programs and includes minor repairs. District personnel are expected to participate in ongoing training and continuing education programs. Personnel under this category are represented by Lane Professional Firefighters IAFF Local 851.
Minimum qualifications include:
Firefighter/Paramedics
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Possess a valid, insurable Oregon driver’s license.
- Possess an Oregon Paramedic certification at time of hire or by the end of the 12-month probationary period.
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
- Possess NFPA Firefighter 1.
- Associates degree or higher in Fire Science, EMS or related field.
- NFPA Driver/Pumper Operator.
- Wildland Firefighter type II.
