This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience of which prepared you to do the work in this job.
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service which includes: 1) Performing firefighting tasks involving burning structures, equipment, Facilities, crashes and burning aircraft, wildland fires, vehicle fires and spilled or burning hazardous materials; 2) Responding on-site to accidents and other emergencies involving injury and illnesses; 3) Conducting patient examinations involving prioritizing treatments for patients with multiple problems; and 4) Responding to emergencies involving hazardous materials.
Selective Placement Factor: In addition to the specialized experience required to qualify for the GS-10 level you must also possess and maintain ALL the following Department of Defense (or reciprocal equivalent) certification, certified through DoD Fire and Emergency Services Certification System, International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC), or the Fire Service Professional Qualifications System (PRO-Board) in accordance with DoD 6055.06-M.
Must possess and maintain DoD Firefighter Certifications:
- Fire Officer III
- Fire Instructor II
- Fire Inspector II
- HAZMAT Incident Commander
- Paramedic (must meet state Paramedic certification requirements)
- Airport Firefighter
