South Shore Emergency Medical Services (EMS) is seeking a full-time Paramedic to provide advanced life support (ALS) care in the pre-hospital environment and support the continued growth of our community-based EMS system. This role is responsible for responding to emergency requests, delivering high-quality patient care in accordance with approved protocols, and supporting hospital operations as assigned.
Responsibilities:
● Respond to requests for ALS intervention in a timely, safe, and professional manner in accordance with Massachusetts law, department policies, and medical control direction
● Perform comprehensive patient assessments and deliver advanced life support care following Region IV protocols, approved Paramedic policies, and within scope of practice
● Serve as team leader on emergency scenes, directing EMTs and coordinating effectively with fire, police, dispatch, and other public safety partners
● Complete accurate and timely clinical and operational documentation, including run reports, trip logs, patient refusals, narcotics documentation, and billing information
● Ensure ambulance vehicles, equipment, and supplies are fully stocked, clean, secure, and ready for response at all times; report and address equipment issues promptly
● Participate in hospital-based assignments as credentialed, continuing education, skill maintenance, staff meetings, professional development, and community outreach activities
Qualifications:
● Massachusetts EMT-Paramedic (EMT-P) certification and successful completion of an accredited Paramedic education program required
● Prior experience providing pre-hospital emergency care required; critical care and ALS transfer experience preferred
● Current ACLS and BLS certifications required; PALS and NRP preferred
● Valid driver’s license with verification of an acceptable motor vehicle record required at hire and annually thereafter
● Community Paramedic training preferred, with strong clinical judgment, communication skills, professionalism, and ability to perform effectively in high-pressure environments
